Custom Solution Engineering
Working closely with local structural engineers, Safety Nets NZ designed a bespoke outrigger frame paired with a fine-mesh (45 mm) fall arrest net. The tighter mesh size was selected to meet exact performance and safety specifications, offering protection without obstructing play.
Proven Success & Expansion
Following a successful installation at Remuera, this solution has since been deployed at both Mount Maunganui and Omanu Golf Clubs in the Bay of Plenty. This validated, customised system underscores our ability to scale effectively while maintaining precision and quality.

When we think about netting solutions associated with golf driving ranges, the tendency is to assume that we are talking about the netting that runs along the sides and ends of the range to contain the golf shots that might have excessive “fade” or “draw”.
We have recently been asked to provide a different solution for two new golf driving ranges being built in the Bay of Plenty. We took this approach after successfully implementing a similar system at Remuera Golf Club a few years ago.
The system again shows the safety nets provided, flexible, professional, and cost-effective fall protection for a wide range of golf and sports facilities.
Remuera Golf Club & Beyond
At Remuera, the club was building a two-level driving range and needed a fall protection solution for golfers who utilised the upper level. The team at Safety Nets NZ, in conjunction with local structural engineers, developed a design that solved the problem — manufacturing and installing an outrigger system with fall arrest nets using 45mm mesh (rather than the usual 100mm mesh) to suit the exact requirements of the client.
The system has proven to be so successful that we have now been asked to install a similar solution at both Mount Maunganui and Omanu Golf Clubs in the Bay of Plenty — further validating our ability to deliver customised, scalable solutions that meet both safety standards and budget requirements.

What mesh size is used for two-story driving ranges?
The horizontal netting has 45mm mesh, which is a tighter specification than the usual100mm mesh commonly used in perimeter netting. The finer mesh size provides more reliable fall protection for elevated tee areas by reducing the risk of smaller objects passing through the net. It also delivers a cleaner, more professional appearance that maintains the aesthetic quality of the facility while meeting exact safety specifications.
